Teletext's news and information service has been switched off, but Teletext still operates commercial services including Teletext Holidays, Teletext Cars, Teletext Games and various services for mobile phones.

Teletext Holidays on Freeview channel 101; commercial channels on Freeview channels 102-107; and the teletextholidays.co.uk, thisistravel.co.uk, inluxury.co.uk and villarenters.co.uk websites are all continuing.

In addition, the Racing and Bookmakers section is continuing. Viewers on Channel 4 analogue and Freeview can get the latest racing news, results and cards. Viewers on C4 Sky will also get the service in analogue form in due course, while the section is also due to be added to Freesat. The section will continue on the web and mobile.

The GameCentral section is continuing online at teletext.co.uk/gamecentral

Owner Associated Newspapers confirmed the decision to close the editorial service, saying it had been loss-making in recent years and no viable business model could be found.

Teletext's news and information service has come to an end on: ITV, C4 and FIVE on analogue TV; ITV and C4 on Sky; ITV, C4 and ch 100 on Freeview; editorial on Teletext Extra on Freeview; editorial on ch 986 on Freesat.

 

Switch-off was in advance of the originally announced date of January 2010 to allow the process to be as smooth as possible on all platforms, technically and operationally.

Subscribers to most SMS alerts will continue to receive services beyond December.

Subtitles on p888 analogue are separate and will also continue beyond December.
